TVadviceguy.com rolls out the red carpet for another Baker's Dozen recipient! This time it's for actor/comedian/host/director Wil Shriner! This guy has done it all, and he even took time out from editing his major motion picture directorial debut to answer our obnoxious questions! Wil is a real trooper! Enjoy...

1) You are a comedian, director, actor, writer, producer, and host. Which do you like best?
I am really trying to get into Kabuki Theatre through the back door by doing all this other stuff

2) How did you get your start in stand up comedy?
I started at the Comedy Store and the Improv in LA in 1978 with a lot of folks like Dave and Jay and Shandling and many others it was a real fun and supportive world unlike the dog eat dog world the comedy has become.

3) You have directed many TV sitcoms including "Frasier" "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Becker." How did you make the transition from acting/performing into directing?
I read a pamplet on how to direct and got a job at Frasier from there it was all down hill from there to features where I am rotting away now.

4) Who were you rooting for during the battle for "The Tonight Show" - Jay or Dave?
I really love both guys but I have to go with Pat Sajack on this one.

Wil as a guest on Dave Letterman's old morning show. By the sepia tone look of it, this photo was taken sometime during the early 1800's.

5) Have you directed any pilots, and if so what were they and why don't you think they were picked up?
I did one where the writing sucked and that is why it didn't go anywhere but the check cleared so it wasn't a total loss.

6) Let's talk about "The Wil Shriner Show," your nationally syndicated daytime talk show from '87-'88. What were some highlights from that experience?
We had lots of laughs with many comedians on the show. It is a great job and everyone should do it once - you get to keep the wardrobe.

7) How would you rate the following talk show hosts that came after your show went off the air? Using a 1 – 10 scale with 10 being like Merv Griffin good, and 1 being a total train wreck:

-Rosie O' Donnell = 8

-Tony Danza = 4

-Wayne Brady = 7

-Howie Mandell = 5

-Caroline Rhea = 2

8) What are your favorite shows on TV right now? What's set on your Tivo?
Not much. I have my tivo set to record stuff that I never have time to watch.

9) You have had a talk show, you directed multiple episodes of "Raising Dad," you have hosted a handful of home and gardening shows in addition to programs with titles like "Primetime Pets" and "Why didn't I Think of That?" And now you're answering our silly questions. Inquiring minds want to know - do you ever turn anything down?
It is sad isn't it but my assistant is really doing this for me.

10) You directed a few episodes of "The Norm Show." Did Max Wright ever show up to work stinking like cheap liquor?
No but Norm did, just kidding it was me.

11) You just finished directing the upcoming film "Hoot." How did this come about, and are you done with TV now that you're a big shot movie director?
You bet so long for now. I had a great time writing and directing the film. Jimmy Buffett gave me the gig. He owes me money so he was working it off.

12) If you could be adopted by any TV family (past or present) who would it be?
The two and a half men because they see alot of action over there.

13) I'm going to list some names, you jot down some thoughts about them. (Example: Dick Clark = Wonderful man, hard worker, filthy rich.)
Johnny Carson = The best there was
Betty White = Sweet, funny and a delight
Logan Lerman = Great kid
David Angell = We will miss this wonderful man and his wife

Ted Danson = A true pro and nice guy
Peri Gilpin = Sweet funny and a true talent
Jimmy Buffett = A great guy who knows what the world has to offer and enjoys it more than anyone I have met.

Wil is very busy editing his new movie, Hoot, so he had to keep his answers short. We first hit him up for our Baker's Dozen way back in May, and he said he'd do them after he shot the movie. Instead of blowing us off, he came through, so major props!
