It's been a while since we've done any updating here at TVadviceguy.com, so I decided to whip up a new review! Please try to contain your excitement.

I decided to review "Out of Practice." And here's what I decided: I like it. Okay, there's my review. No, fine, I guess I will keep writing.

Right out of the gate I wanted to like "Out of Practice" because it was created by Joe Keenan and Christopher Lloyd, who also ran "Frasier." But, they also created "Bram & Alice." So, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was also excited to see Henry Winkler return as a series regular in a sitcom, but on the other hand I was worried because the show had cast Paula Marshall, whose sitcom track record is pretty embarrassing. So, the bottom line is that I wasn't sure what to expect. But I watched the pilot episode and was laughing out loud. Frequently.

So I thought to myself, TAG, it looks like we have a winner on our hands! But then the second episode aired, and it wasn't quite as funny. So I thought to myself, TAG, maybe we have a loser on our hands! But then the third episode aired, and I was laughing again. So I thought to myself, TAG, you've run out of hands so just make a freakin' decision! And so I did. I like the show.

"Out of Practice" is not perfect, but the writing is generally very strong, the jokes are fired at a rapid pace, and the cast, for the most part, is excellent. Stockard Channing is very funny as the ex wife to Henry Winkler. They both play doctors who have three children, also doctors. Their two sons played by Christopher Gorham and Ty Burrell are well cast, but Paula Marshall, she with the sitcom touch of death, adds nothing to the show. I'm not sure it's her fault as an actress, it's just her character, who is a lesbian, is kind of useless other than for Stockard Channing to make witty one liners at her expense.

But I've decided to give "Out of Practice" the TVadviceguy.com seal of approval, so you can rest assured that it won't be back for a second season.
