It’s been a long time since tvadviceguy.com has been updated, and for that I am sorry. Seriously, I mean, you think I like paying for a website that doesn’t even get updated?? Anyway, it’s been a pretty busy time for TAG due to a new job and hectic work schedule. These toilets aint gonna’ clean themselves you know! But it’s your lucky day, because today I have carved out some time to type up some “random thoughts” on the TV season thus far. Woohoo!!
You know, you’d think I would have learned from last season not to bother watching any more serialized programs. After FOX yanked “Reunion” off the air without resolving the mystery, dicking around the show’s loyal fans, I should have known better than to fall for another program that relies on such dedicated viewing. But, alas, I learned nothing. It turns out, however, that the rest of America did learn their lesson because nobody was watching these new serialized shows.
This season I was a loyal viewer of CBS’ “Smith,” NBC’s “Kidnapped,” and even the CW’s “Runaway.” Those, coincidentally, were also the first three shows cancelled this season. So, does that mean I am totally crazy and have no idea what a good show is? Of course not, it just means the rest of America is a bunch of friggin’ morons. As usual.
“Runaway” I could understand being cancelled. It was the lowest rated show on television. Although I thought the premise of a family on the run was interesting, it never found an audience.
“Smith” on the other hand was a bit baffling. Here you had a solid cast with Ray Liotta and Virginia Madsen, an interesting story about a family man/thief, and the program still had respectable numbers. But not respectable enough as CBS put an end to the series after three episodes.
Then there’s “Kidnapped,” another captivating show with a great cast and intriguing storyline that was removed from my life. NBC wasn’t happy with the ratings the show was pulling in on Wednesday nights, so they moved it to Saturday night. Well to nobody’s surprise, the ratings took a bigger shit than ever and NBC pulled it off the air. Like what the hell did they expect that the ratings would soar on Saturday night? Dumbshits. At least NBC let the producers of “Kidnapped” finish the storyline in 13 episodes and will air them on nbc.com. That’s better than nothing.
Let’s see, what else is going on in the world of network TV? Oh yeah, CBS rolled out “The Class” from David Crane, co-creator of that one show, oh what was it called? That’s right, “Friends.” Anyway the show isn’t that bad, as it channels “Friends” better than the “Friends” spin-off “Joey” did. But the gay couple on the show are about as irritating as, well, the “Friends” spin-off “Joey.” It’s time to dump those characters, as the cast is too large anyway.
I’m going to continue with my random thoughts, but at a later date. Why? Well not that’s it’s any of your business, but I have to go attend to a very important work matter - the water is running everywhere.
So stay tuned, as my Random Thoughts will continue soon...
