UPN REPORT CARD!

WBlogo.jpg - 22741 Bytes

It’s been nearly two months since I promised to give my WB report card. If this was like real school, I’d get an “F” for being so lazy. But it’s not real school, so “F” you. We're finally done with all these report cards!

This year the WB rolled out a political drama, a green screen, and a mountain. There were other shows too, but who can remember any of them?

“Jack & Bobby” is the only show on the WB that I tune into on any regular basis, and it’s an excellent show. I know it gets buried in the ratings like Dukakis got buried in the ’88 election, but it is so smart and original. As it has become one of my favorite shows, it will no doubt be missing from next seasons schedule, but at least the WB renewed it for the remainder of this season.

This year the WB also introduced us to the second failed Oliver Hudson show in as many years with, “The Mountain.” I didn’t see this show, and apparently audiences everywhere stayed away from this snow capped crap.

The comedies on the WB schedule didn’t fare much better: “Commando Nanny” went AWOL way back in September and “Drew Carey’s Green Screen” was put out to greener pastures after just a few months. The only show to do half way decent was “Blue Collar TV.” Because, at the end of the day, who doesn’t like a good redneck joke?

There were also some forgettable mid season shows in the form of “Big Man On Campus” and “High School Reunion.” Two school themed reality shows that people avoided like studying for an exam.

The most recent reality show from the WB is “The Starlet” which T.A.G. recently reviewed. It’s not doing too hot in the ratings, but I don’t know if the WB has anything to replace it with.

So, to sum this mess up, the only good new show is “Jack & Bobby” and even that is getting kicked in the ratings, so the poor WB has to get a big ol’ D.
