RANDOM YEAR IN REVIEW!

Even though it’s already 2006, we thought we’d post a 2005 year in review! Yes, we realize that everybody else does this kind of list sometime in December, or even sometimes in November, but they’re stupid. How can you review a year when the year isn’t even over yet?! So once again Tvadviceguy.com is shaking things up. Changing the way Year in Review lists will be done forever! Damn we’re good!

We’ll quit our yappin’ now, and get right to the Random Year in Review, our look back on TV in 2005 in absolutely no order whatsoever.

Biggest Delight Of The Year – Goes to www.tvadviceguy.com Look, where else can you find honest reviews, uncensored opinions, breaking news, and 13 questions with TV stars, writers, and journalists? This site kicks ass, and if you don’t believe us, just ask us. Now if we could only figure out how to update it more frequently.

The Good Riddance Award – ABC didn’t bring back “My Wife and Kids.” Good riddance. Here’s hoping “According to Jim” wins this award next season.

Crime Of the Year – In 2005 FOX decided to give a holiday gift to the cast and crew of “Arrested Development” – pink slips! After an early full season pickup of the best show on television, the little network who never could decided to slash the order to 13 and eliminate any promotion for the Emmy winning sitcom!

Worst Programming Strategy – FOX continued to baffle in 2005 when they decided to yank the bona fide freshman hit “Prison Break” off the air for something like four months. The edge of your seat thriller with plot holes bigger than the one they were digging to escape, came to a screeching halt when the asshats at FOX removed the program in November. Mind-boggling.

The Return of Rizzo & Fonzie – CBS’ new hit sitcom “Out of Practice” was a surprise delight with fast jokes, a solid writing team, and a likeable cast that featured the welcome return of Henry Winkler and the very funny Stockard Channing. Naturally CBS is pulling the show in 2006 for the Jenna Elfman stinker “Courting Alex.” Guess somebody at CBS likes FOX’s programming theory.

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better – After the success of “Lost” last season, suddenly there were mysterious supernatural dramas everywhere. But the biggest clunker of all the knock offs has got to be ABC’s “Invasion.” The show was promoted well, looked interesting, and was given the post “Lost” time slot, only to find viewers running scared after the first few episodes thanks to the program’s boring story and dreadfully slow pace.

NBC’s First Hit Sitcom in Years – The peacock finally had reason to strut with the success of the very funny new sitcom “My Name is Earl.” I’m not sure what was more shocking, that NBC finally had a new hit sitcom, or the fact that “My Name is Earl” was created by Greg Garcia the creator of one of the worst shows on TV (“Yes, Dear.”) Guess it doesn’t matter. “Earl” is a hoot.

People Will Watch Anything – The inexplicable success of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

People Will Watch UPN – The smart and funny “Everybody Hates Chris” earned positive reviews and respectable ratings. Too bad I’ll never forgive them for “Homeboys in Outer Space,” though.

Karma Is A Bitch – After deciding not to renew the brilliant “Jack & Bobby” for the 2005 season, The WB was met with a pretty crappy season that saw the quick cancellation of “Just Legal” after Just Three Episodes.

The End Of An Era – ABC says goodbye to “Monday Night Football” with a tastefully done retrospective, but a pretty boring football game.

It’s Not All Good – NBC saw the ratings for Martha Stewart’s “Apprentice” do some hard time. The reality show was a disappointment, and as a result viewers will not be sentenced to a second season.

CBS Holds It’s Own – It turns out “Lost” isn’t the only show worth watching on Wednesdays at 9. Mandy Patinkin leads a solid cast in the CBS profiler drama “Criminal Minds,” which has turned out to be a solid hit in it’s own right.

And that's about it. I can't think of any other random crap to talk about. Good thing I don't have to do another one of these until 2007!
