Well folks, the 57th annual Emmy Awards are here and since we here at TVadviceguy.com aint done squat since re-hauling the web site, we thought we’d do a little “Emmy Predictions” thing to keep this joint jumpin’. Even though by the time anyone reads this, the damn awards show will probably be over.
We’ll do it the same way you’ve seen it done a thousand times, so this should be easy to follow. Okay kids, here we go…
Comedy Series
Arrested Development FOX
Desperate Housewives ABC
Everybody Loves Raymond CBS
Scrubs NBC
Will & Grace NBC
Last year “Arrested Development” won, and rightfully so. But this year the voters might go with “Raymond” because they have a soft spot for shows that go out on top. But you can’t count out “Desperate Housewives” because more than a show going out on top, Emmy voters love a new show about suicidal housewives. Maybe. Who knows?
Who Will Win: Desperate Housewives
Who Should Win: Arrested Development.
Drama Series
Deadwood HBO
Lost ABC
Six Feet Under HBO
24 FOX
The West Wing NBC
“The West Wing” has been clipped, “Six Feet Under” was buried with soap opera like story lines, “Deadwood” might have a shot, but I doubt “24” does. Will Emmy voters grant “Lost,” which was last year’s most intriguing show, with the Emmy? How the hell do I know?? But I think they should.
Who Will Win: Lost
Who Should Win: Lost
Lead Actor, Comedy Series
Jason Bateman - Arrested Development FOX
Zach Braff - Scrubs NBC
Eric McCormack - Will & Grace ABC
Ray Romano - Everybody Loves Raymond CBS
Tony Shalhoub - Monk USA
Everybody seems to think Tony Shalhoub will win this, but I can’t honestly say I’ve seen a full episode of “Monk.” Yeah, I know, and I claim to be a couch potato. So, among the rest of these dudes, I gotta say they all stand a chance. Well, except for Eric McCormack.
Who Will Win: Ray Romano
Who Should Win: Jason Bateman
Lead Actor, Drama Series
Hank Azaria - Huff Showtime
James Spader - Boston Legal ABC
Hugh Laurie - House FOX
Kiefer Sutherland - 24 FOX
Ian McShane - Deadwood HBO
It’s all about James Spader in “Boston Legal.” Sorry, no offense to the other guys in the category, but you all suck compared to Spader’s Alan Shore.
Who Will Win: Ian McShane
Who Should Win: Haven’t you been paying attention?? James Spader!
Lead Actress, Comedy Series
Marcia Cross - Desperate Housewives ABC
Teri Hatcher - Desperate Housewives ABC
Patricia Heaton - Everybody Loves Raymond CBS
Felicity Huffman - Desperate Housewives ABC
Jane Kaczmarek - Malcolm In The Middle FOX
Well with three nominees from “Desperate Housewives” one has to wonder if their votes will cancel each other out. Which makes me think they should add a new twist to the Emmy Awards; where they announce the number of votes each actor recieved. Could be very fun. And humiliating for some.
Who Will Win: Marcia Cross
Who Should Win: Jane Kaczmarek
Lead Actress, Drama Series
Jennifer Garner - Alias ABC
Patricia Arquette - Medium NBC
Mariska Hargitay - Law and Order Special Victim's Unit NBC
Glenn Close - The Shield FX
Frances Conroy - Six Feet Under HBO
Since I actually don’t regularly watch any of the shows these chicks are in, I really don’t care who wins. Having said that, Glenn Close will probably win because of her bold move to bring herself to work on the “small screen.”
Who Will Win: Glenn Close
Who Should Win: Christine Lahti for her role as Grace McCallister in "Jack & Bobby" except she wasn't nominated. What a bunch of crap. So I guess I have to go with Mariska Hargitay
Supporting Actor, Comedy Series
Jeffrey Tambor - Arrested Development FOX
Brad Garrett - Everybody Loves Raymond CBS
Peter Boyle - Everybody Loves Raymond CBS
Jeremy Piven - Entourage HBO
Sean Hayes - Will & Grace NBC
Here’s a category where any of these guys deserve the award. All 5 of these guys really make the show’s they star in special. So, again, I don’t care who wins, because they all deserve to.
Who Will Win: Peter Boyle
Who Should Win: Jeremy Piven
Supporting Actor, Drama Series
William Shatner - Boston Legal ABC
Terry O'Quinn - Lost ABC
Naveen Andrews - Lost ABC
Oliver Platt - Huff Showtime
Alan Alda - The West Wing NBC
Denny Crane. William Shatner. Emmy.
Who Will Win: Alan Alda
Who Should Win: William Shatner
Supporting Actress, Comedy Series
Doris Roberts - Everybody Loves Raymond CBS
Jessica Walter - Arrested Development FOX
Holland Taylor - Two and a Half Men CBS
Conchata Ferrell - Two and a Half Men CBS
Megan Mullally - Will & Grace NBC
Much like the Supporting Actor category, all these actresses are great and add that little something extra to make their shows click.
Who Will Win: Doris Roberts
Who Should Win: Jessica Walter
Supporting Actress, Drama Series
Sandra Oh - Grey’s Anatomy ABC
Tyne Daly - Judging Amy CBS
Blythe Danner - Huff Showtime
CCH Pounder - The Shield FX
Stockard Channing - The West Wing NBC
I’ll go with Rizzo.
Who Will Win: Tyne Daly
Who Should Win: Stockard Channing
Reality/Competition Program
The Amazing Race CBS
American Idol FOX
The Apprentice NBC
Project Runway BRAVO
Survivor CBS
The most ridiculous category in the Emmy’s goes to…
Who Will Win: The Amazing Race
Who Should Win: The Amazing Race. Or Survivor. Either one.
Well that's gonna do it for us. I know, I know, but what about "Best Lead Actor in a Mini Series or Variety Musical??" Well, I just don't have time to go through all those. I have to go check on my tater tots. Sorry.
