NBC REPORT CARD!

NBC rolled out their new fall season with high hopes, but instead have reached new lows. Always bragging about being number one in all the key demos, this year the only thing NBC is number one in, is the network with the worst new shows. If that makes any sense. Anyway, here we go:

LAX - This show should have been grounded in the development stages. From what I understand, the original idea for LAX was nothing like the watered down crap it turned into. I think this show just tried too hard, and watching it was about as fun as trying to drink hot coffee during turbulence.

LAST COMIC STANDING Like any good network, NBC decided to milk a reality show that enjoyed some decent ratings and ultimately run it into the ground. Or, in the case of LCS, run it off to Comedy Central. After two successful summer runs, NBC decided to throw together a season three that looked like it was being produced on the spot. But worse yet, NBC showed no respect to the comics, the producers, and the fans of the show when they yanked the finale and had it air on Comedy Central. That was some serious bullshit.

FATHER OF THE PRIDE NBC really sunk a lot into this animated comedy. They promoted the hell out of it during the Olympics, but it never quite caught on. The show is (was? is it canceled for good yet?) hit and miss. When it hit, it was laugh out loud funny, when it missed it was painful to watch. I enjoyed the segments with the Sigfried & Roy characters more than the sex crazed talking animals. NBC gambled big time with this show, but it looks like they crapped out.

HAWAII We predicted this fluff show would get washed up like dirty syringes on a Santa Monica beach before too long, and we were right. It never stood a chance against "Lost" anyway.

JOEY "We'll spin off Joey from 'Friends' and it'll be a 10 year long hit, just like 'Frasier' was! It'll be great!" Except one small problem - "Joey" isn't very funny. I have tried week after week to like this show. But week after week it's weak. The jokes are predictable, the characters are boring, and the plots are silly. NBC has already renewed it for the full season, but the show is tanking worse than a baseball movie with a monkey. They better re-tool this show quick before it's too late.

I think that's it. Well, there's "Medical Investigation" but I have never seen it. Network TV needs another medical drama like they need another business tycoon reality show. I'm over it. NBC has managed to ruin the network this season. I predict it will be at least another five years before they are back on top. Their viewers have left for ABC & CBS who have quite simply produced far better programs. And the mid season shows that NBC are cooking up don't look to be any help. I give NBC this season a D.
